Which attraction is reopening?
Fasten your seat belts, because EPCOT’s Test Track has finally reopened! Disney revealed the big news on the Walt Disney Imagineering Instagram account, with a caption that reads, “Can you be-leaf it?!🍃 Test Track presented by @generalmotors opens on July 22 at @waltdisneyworld ✨”
Guests can once again enjoy the attraction after 13 months, during which time it was closed for renovations. And it’s about time—Disney park-goers have definitely been missing it!
What changes can guests expect?
Test Track was given a serious makeover during the months that it was closed, and guests can expect to see some pretty big changes now that it has reopened. For starters, there’s a brand-new musical score and new scenes that show off the technology that makes the ride vehicles smarter.
Among the most noteworthy changes are totally redesigned ride vehicles that feature darker colors and all-new interiors with new lighting, graphics and seats. Guests will also have the chance to enjoy different queue exhibits with six individual spaces that highlight the history of mobility, honoring the people who’ve made it possible. Plus, the new scenes will showcase onboard technology, customization and the link between driving and emotions. And last but not least, you’ll get to experience a finale on the outdoor track at high speeds!
How are fans reacting to the refurbished ride?
For Disney fans, seeing a new version of a beloved ride is a really big deal! And, based on early fan reactions, the new-and-improved Test Track was totally worth the wait.
“I absolutely loved the new look of everything. You nailed it!” wrote one commenter on a post from @DisneyParks who showed off the ride at impressively high speeds. Another said: “So stoked to check it out!! ❤️ She definitely was missed, and I’m LOVING the new elements ✨️”
Speaking of high speeds, fans are really excited about how fast the ride goes. One guest recounted, “I will never get over the time me and my little brother went by ourselves and it hit almost 70!!🙌” And another guest raved, “On the rare occasion I’ve hit 65 on the I-4, it still doesn’t feel nearly as fast as Test Track! 🏎️💨🔥🔥🔥”
If you have a need for speed, the newly renovated Test Track is a Disney attraction you won’t want to skip!
What other reopenings are on the horizon?
If Disney hasn’t been feeling quite the same in the last year or so, it’s because Test Track isn’t the only attraction that’s been shut down for renovations. But those renovations mean reopenings are in the not-too-distant future. Test Track may be the latest attraction to reopen, but Piston Peak at Magic Kingdom is right on its heels.
Piston Peak, also known as “Cars Land,” is part of one of the biggest expansions that Disney’s Magic Kingdom has ever seen. Fans were sad to say goodbye to Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, but there’s no denying that the attractions that will be created in their place are going to be epic.
And it sounds like it won’t be long! Lands have been cleared, and construction is underway, meaning we’re that much closer to being able to visit Piston Peak ourselves. The new attraction will be located behind Big Thunder Mountain and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Though construction is still in its early phases, we’re likely to see more noticeable changes in the next few months.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is also slated to close temporarily for renovations. It will shut down starting on Aug. 4, but it’s supposed to reopen in 2026, so you won’t have to wait too long to enjoy the beloved attraction once again.
